Decadent Mocha Brownies
Rich and decadent chocolate mocha brownies made with Kava® coffee twist! The perfect fudgy, cakey brownie, with a hint of mocha.
- 5 teaspoons Kava® low-acid instant coffee
- 2 cups white table sugar
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 4 eggs (large)
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 cup cocoa powder (unsweetened)
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon hot water
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Combine the butter and shortening into a pan and slowly melt over low heat. When fully melted, transfer to a large mixing bowl, stirring in the cocoa and sugar until smooth. In a small bowl, mix 5 teaspoons of Kava® instant coffee with 1 tablespoon of hot water until dissolved. Pour into your cocoa/butter mixture and stir.
Use a separate medium bowl to beat the eggs until thoroughly whisked, then add to the mixture. Follow by adding the salt and vanilla extract to the mixture, and then the flour. Stir together until smooth and thoroughly combined.
Transfer the batter into a greased baking 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake brownies for 25 to 30 minutes, or until you can insert a toothpick in the center which comes out clean. Let cool, serve and enjoy!
